Visit the music store near you and ask them about starter package or sets. Electric guitar starter package is perfect for beginners because it includes basic electric guitar, strap, cable, pick and a small amplifier.
Research or purchase a study guide. This will help you know what lessons to cover or to study. Make sure it will discuss about the music theory, warm ups, and the basic techniques like fretting, fingering, strumming, plucking and sliding. How to Play Guitar Chords

You want to play the guitar better because you look up to the best guitarist that existed in the music industry. You want to be a rock star so millions of fans all over the world will adore you. You would like to go on tour with the greatest bands in history. For now just learn to play guitar chords because maybe someday you will live your dreams.  Play the easy chords first. The ones that would need only one or two fingers to work.

This will set your interest in playing the guitar because you would think it is easy. Strum the simple G, the E minor and the simple C. It will give you pride to actually hear yourself play. See the tutorial videos so can you compare their sound from yours.   Test your ear on the easy chords that you play.
